Bonding/White Fillings
A composite is used as an alternative to amalgams. Composites are sometimes are sometimes refered to as "bonding" because the composite is acutally bonded to the tooth. This is an excellent cosmetic option for those patients who do not want the look of silver in their mouths or do not want the expense of veneers, as composites can be used as a low cost alternative to porcelain veneers. Composites can be used on teeth that are decayed, cracked, or stained.
Procedure
The procedure is usually completed in one visit. The first step is to remove the decayed or unsightly portion of the tooth. A bonding agent is then applied. The composite resin is then placed in the prepared tooth and cured using. The resin is then trimmed and polished, leaving you with a beautifully sculpted, natural-looking restoration.
